New Musical Director

After forty- five highly successful years, John Hugh Thomas OBE will be standing down as Musical Director of Swansea Bach Choir. John Hugh Thomas formed the choir in 1965 and, under his guidance and direction, it has evolved and developed into one of the country's leading choirs, producing performances of a very high standard and in a variety of venues. The choir is now seeking a suitable candidate to become its new Musical Director from September 2011.

Suitable candidates would:

•  Have a solid and wide-ranging grounding in music and particular skill in choral/vocal music.
•  Be experienced in training and directing choral and instrumental groups.
•  Be punctual, reliable and well organised.
•  Be an excellent and inspiring communicator.
•  Have an excellent understanding of vocal training and be able to develop the members' technique.
•  Be able to work collaboratively with the committee, the choir and the choir accompanist.
•  Be able to devise interesting and challenging programmes.
•  Be willing to make a strong commitment to the continuing success and development of the choir.
